Flint Hill Goods Roof Cargo Basket Review - 2021 Volkswagen Atlas- Video
Hey, it's Ethan here at etrailer. Today we're going to be taking a look at the Flint Hill Goods 46 by 36 inch rooftop cargo basket and how it fits on our 2021 Volkswagen Atlas. So with the Atlas, we have a decent amount of storage in the back, but maybe we want some items up on the roof that might be just a little bit bulkier. Maybe they're gonna make a mess, maybe they're icy or snowy, or maybe you're coming from a beach or they're gonna be sandy or muddy and you'd rather that mess be up on the roof where you can clean it off easily than inside your vehicle. So let's check out how it works. The basket has a 165 pound weight capacity, which is about the standard, about as high as you're gonna get with something that you could put on your roof 'cause you have to factor in the fact that your crossbars, the feet for the crossbars, and your roof all have different weight ratings and the highest number is usually around that 165 number. more

So with the Atlas, we do have a decent amount of storage in the vehicle, but maybe you have something longer something that's just gonna make it a big mess inside your car and you'd rather get it up on the roof. This is a great way to do that. So let's check it out. The carrier is 58 inches long by 23 inches wide, so it's very narrow, but it still has a weight capacity of 165 pounds which is pretty typical for anything you're putting up on the roof 'cause the roof, your feet and your crossbars are all gonna have different weight ratings. more

Now guys, it's gonna be a pretty decent way of giving yourself just a little bit of cargo on the top of your roof. Of course, this is gonna be great for your coolers, your dry bags, anything you might need to get up on here. One thing, they've been great about it too, this can be awesome for sports teams. So if you do find yourself bringing the kiddo to the games a lot, and you're having that kinda foul, smelly bag that always kinda happens, it can be nice to go ahead just toss that guy up on here, that way we don't have it in the back of the hatch. more

Andy: Hello everyone. Andy here with etrailer. And today we're going to go over the Yakima Off-grid Roof Cargo Basket on our 2013 Volkswagen Jetta. Having a smaller vehicle such as a Jetta, whether you have extra cargo or you have passengers and cargo, you need an option between a roof basket or a cargo box to have on top of your vehicle. Here with the roof basket, you have the option to put that cargo, whether you're going on a long trip, camping trip, road trip, and you have some luggage or other types of items, this is going to be a lot easier to use other than a cargo box sitting on top. It's much easier to get everything in and out and load it up quick and unloaded quickly as well.One thing that you want to check when it comes to how much weight and load that this basket can really hold is going to be based on not only your vehicle's specifications on what they require, but also the load that the bars that you're going to be mounting it on it that can hold as well. more

etrailer Medium Roof Cargo Basket Review - 2013 Volkswagen Jetta- Video
Andy: Hello everyone, Andy with etrailer, and today we're going to look at the etrailer medium-sized cargo basket on our 2013 Volkswagen Jetta.One of the main reasons to have a cargo basket mounted to the roof of your vehicle, this vehicle, the Jetta, being a little bit on the smaller side, you're going to need more space for passengers or for extra cargo as well. So having the option to have it roof-mounted is one way to go.This specific basket allows up to 165 pounds to be loaded into it. Just to keep in mind, this basket alone, just itself, is going to weigh almost 30 pounds, so you need to make sure that the weight capacity that your bars can handle doesn't exceed those two. These bars specifically can hold up to 220 pounds, so we've got a little bit of room to work with.One thing we want to keep in mind is the clearance that we have from the bars to the top of the roof basket. Right now, we have anywhere between 8 and 8 1/2 inches at its peak point.One thing with this specific cargo basket, we have multiple tie-down points in order to keep that cargo that's going to be loaded secure. It is made out of steel, very, very durable, and it's also powder-coated in black, and that's going to keep it corrosive resistant, whenever you're driving in the elements or whenever you're loading things that might happen to nick it, scratch it. more

Today on our 2016 Volkswagen Jetta we're taking a look at the Rhino Rack Roofmounted Cargo Basket. That part number is RMCB. This is 47 inches long by 35 inches wide and has a weight capacity of 165 pounds. You do want to check your vehicles owner's manual to make sure your vehicle can withstand that much weight, but as far as the basket it can withstand 165 pounds. Today on our 2016 Volkswagen Jetta, we're doing a test fit of the Thule Canyon XT roof-mounted cargo basket. This is 49 by 40 by 6 inches, has a weight capacity of 150 pounds and the part number for that is TH859XT. Now, keep in mind, with that weight capacity, you do want to check your vehicle's owners manual to make sure that the vehicle can withstand that much weight. We already have three of our four mounts down in place. We've got both of our front ones and our back passenger's side. We're going to show you our driver's side now. Thule Roof Cargo Carrier Review - 2012 Volkswagen Touareg- Video
Today on our 2012 Volkswagen Touareg we're going to be doing a test fit on the Thule rooftop mounted cargo basket. This cargo basket is going to measure 49 inches long by 40 inches wide, and at it's highest point at the top of this curve here, it's going to have a depth of about 6 inches. Now, it's going to have a sturdy steel construction as well, it's going to have 150 pound weight capacity. You can see that we already have it up here with 3 of the feet installed, but we're going to show you how to install the final one. The first thing you're going to need to do, is before you get started make sure that you have your adjustments for your crossbar spread. Measure from one point on one, to the one point on the other one, and get your crossbar spread whatever measurement that may be, in this case we are at 30 inches. This can be adjusted and permanently set, so that way when you're pulling it on and off your vehicle you can set it up quickly and easily and easily take it off in a matter of minutes. Today on our 2015 Volkswagen Passat, we're test-fitting the SportRack Vista roof-mounted cargo basket. Part number for that is SR9035. It's dimensions are 44 inches by 39-1/8 inches, and it has the capacity to hold up to 110 pounds. Yakima LoadWarrior Roof Cargo Basket Review - 2013 Volkswagen Jetta- Video
Today on our 2013 Volkswagen Jetta, we will be testing the Yakima Load Warrior, roof-rack cargo basket, part #Y07070. To begin our test fit, we will place our cargo basket directly on our load bars, being sure to center it with our vehicle. Here, we will bring our clamp around our bars, dropping the T-bolt through it, lining it up with the appropriate slot, and then secure it using the 2 black wingnuts. We will move around the vehicle to the other 3 clamps and repeat that same tightening process. With all 4 clamps secure, our cargo basket is ready to go. That will complete today's test fit of the Yakima Load Warrior roof-rack cargo basket, part #Y07070, on our 2013 Volkswagen Jetta. . more

Thule MOAB Roof Top Cargo Basket Review - 2013 Volkswagen Passat- Video
Today on our 2013 Volkswagen Passat, we'll be test fitting the Thule Moab, also known as the "Mother of all Baskets," part number TH690XT. Now with the roof rack system already assembled onto our vehicle, we'll begin our test fit by placing the cargo basket onto the vehicle's cross bars. For today's demonstration, we'll make sure the basket is centered onto the vehicle's cross bars. Note, this basket does not have to be centered, as you can carry other roof rack accessories as well as the basket at the same time. One our cargo basket is centered onto the vehicle, we can loosen up the brackets to bring the black bracket on the underside of the vehicle's cross bars. We'll then thread the bolt through the brackets and use the gray wing nuts to tighten it down to secure the cargo basket to the vehicle. more

Today on our 2013 Volkswagen Passat well be test fitting the Yakima Loadwarrior roof rack cargo basket, part number Y07070. To begin our test fit you may need to adjust the underside of the brackets to make sure that they fit the crossbar spread of the roof rack system. This is important to ensure a good solid fit to the crossbars. Well go ahead and hoist the basket on top of the crossbars, again to make sure and check that the brackets line up for the crossbar spread. Well swing the brackets around the underside of the crossbar and use the bolt and wing nut to tighten and bound and secure it in place. It is important to get the basket centered onto the vehicle to prevent excess wind noise and to get a secure fit onto the crossbars. more

Today on our 2012 Volkswagen Passat, well be test fitting the Thule Mother of All Baskets Rooftop Cargo Carrier, part number TH690. To begin our test fit, well set the carrier on top of the crossbars and place it evenly on the crossbars. Well then swing the brackets on the bottom side of the crossbar and tighten them down with the wingnuts. Once we have all four of the brackets were ready to load up our basket. Today with our 2012 Volkswagen Jetta were going to be test fitting the Yakima Load Warrior Roof Mounted Cargo Basket, part number Y07070. We already have our basket put together and now were ready to fit it up on top of our vehicle. First well take the basket and lay it up on top of our crossbars. Then well position it and make sure its even from left to right. Once weve done that we can we swing our hardware around and use the included T bolt and wing nut to tighten the clamps to our crossbars. With the clams tight, were ready to load our basket and hit the road. more

Yakima LoadWarrior Roof Cargo Basket Review - 2011 Volkswagen Jetta- Video
Alright, today, on this 2011 Volkswagen Jetta were going to do a test fit of part #: y07070 from Yakima, the Load Warrior roof cargo basket. Okay, now our Jetta has already been equipped with a roof rack system with elliptical bars and as for a reference point our centers of the bars are going to be 27 and 9/16. Okay, were going to start off our test fit with the basket already assembled. We just got to place it on the roof rack, get it centered the way we wand and then we can go ahead and install the hardware. Once we get it roughly into position, well go ahead and loosely install the hardware and then make some final adjustments. And thats what it takes to install the basket on a roof rack. more
